Roy Taborda, MD is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist with fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine. He is experienced in treating musculoskeletal and spinal injuries and disease, including, low back disc herniations, sciatica, meniscus injuries, shoulder rotator cuff injuries, neck pain and much more. Dr. Taborda offers non-surgical procedures including, epidural steroid injections, facet injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, neuromodulation (spinal and peripheral nerve stimulation), MILD (minimally invasive lumbar decompression), diagnostic testing, including EMG and Nerve conduction testing and regenerative procedures including platelet rich plasma therapy and percutaneous tenotomy. He is well versed in ultrasound techniques for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Dr. Taborda completed his undergraduate BA in biology at the College of New Jersey. He then acquired his master's degree in biomedical science at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences-Newark in 2014. He completed his medical school training at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School in 2018. He subsequently, completed his internship training in medicine at Newark Beth Israel in 2019. His Physical medicine and Rehabilitation residency was completed at RWJ-Johnson Rehabilitation institute in 2022 where he served as academic chief resident in 2022. His final year of training was completed with the experienced medical doctors at Northeast Spine and Sports.
Dr. Taborda has numerous publications, including “Clinical Guide to Musculoskeletal Medicine: A multidisciplinary approach” and AAPMR Knowledge Now. He belongs to several societies including AAP and AAPMR.
Dr. Taborda’s interests include athletics, such as weightlifting and running. He is a firm believer in well balanced nutrition and exercise for maximizing health. He enjoys the diverse populations he encounters in the medical field and is fluent in Spanish with a decent comprehension in Portuguese. His primary goal is to deliver excellent care while building strong physician-patient relationships with the ultimate purpose of improving quality of life.
