Northeast Spine and Sports Medicine is a multi-specialty medical group with three locations in Ocean County. We have an office in Point Pleasant, Jackson, and Barnegat. Dr. Lambros R. and Dr. Dimitrios Lambrou co-founded the practice in Point Pleasant in 2001. This April 17th will be the Point Pleasant office’s 13th year anniversary.
The doctors felt that Point Pleasant was the perfect location to begin their practice. They liked the idea of a family oriented town that was near the shore. In 2001, the locality was underserved for multi-specialty non-surgical orthopedics, acupuncture andrehabilitation. So thus began Northeast Spine and Sport Medicine.
The office is located in a large shore style home that was once the office of legendary physician Dr. Leon Dwulet. Dr. Dwulet was a local physician who graduated from Lakewood High School and went to graduate from Rutgers University. He was scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and he played with them for a year before making the decision to become a physician. Dr. Dwulet was a part of the medical staff at Point Pleasant Hospital and opened his practice on Arnold Avenue in 1948.
During his busy hours, patients would sit outside of his office on the front steps of the building. Many of the patients we see were currently were actually delivered by him. We love being a part of that history. The office is still located in its original space but the practice now occupies the entire building, just over 4,000 square feet.
The practice began with just chiropractic. Once we grew enough to sustain other disciplines we added others. In 2004 we added physical therapy, in 2007 medical, and in 2011 acupuncture. Our staff is very tight knit. Our physical therapist Doris has been with us since 2004. She has been a pillar in our physical therapy department. Dee, in insurance, has been with us for over 9 years! In fact, many of other staff members approaching their 10-year mark as well. We all have a genuine respect for one another and always help each other when the need arises.
We cannot believe our Point Pleasant location has been open for 13 years! We love being a part of the community and look forward to continuing to serve our patients in and around the area. Contact usfor an appointment and celebrate our anniversary with us!
