In a previous post, I discussed Jumper's Knee. In this short video, I will show you first a normal patellar tendon and its appearance on ultrasound. And then I will show you a person with patellar tendinosis.
Notice that in the affected knee, the color is darker, and the tendon appears thickened. There is also a black region which represents a partial tear of the tendon.
Treatment of such an injury requires patience, rest, and physical therapy. The consistency of treatment is important.
Additionally, injections treatments can be utilized such as PRP, needle tenotomy, or prolotherapy. These and other forms of non-surgical treatments can be very effective.
