Sandy Foukarakis, DMSc, PA-C, is a spine and sports medicine Physician Assistant who is experienced in treating patients of all ages for both sports and non-sports related injuries as well as chronic pain conditions, including neck pain, lower back pain, and arthritis. She places an emphasis on patient education and offers a variety of diagnostic and interventional pain procedures such as joint injections, trigger point injections, musculoskeletal ultrasounds, and bracing.
Sandy sees patients in our Point Pleasant, Toms River, and Tinton Falls offices. Following her undergraduate education where she studied exercise science and biology, Dr. Foukarakis earned a Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies. In 2019, she completed a Doctorate of Medical Science, which included a fellowship in Spine & Sports Medicine, to maximize her knowledge of the field. In addition to Spine and Sports Medicine, she has worked in emergency medicine for the last 7 years and continues to do so on a per diem basis. Sandy is a Jersey Shore native and continues to live here with her two children.
Since childhood, she has been a competitive athlete and continues to participate in charity endurance events, including triathlons, ½ marathons, and mud runs. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she worked for many years as a personal trainer, which influenced her decision to become a PA. By continuing to evolve her techniques in spine & sports medicine, she combines her passions for medicine with human form and function to maximize results for her patients. She is committed to being well-versed in all the latest technology related to the field and offers education on both regenerative medicine and holistic approaches, as well as more traditional medical management.
