- Leg pain
- Neck pain
- Sports injuries
We use treatment options such as adjustment, cold laser therapy, spinal decompression therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and much more to relieve you from your pain. These forms of treatment can help patients recover quicker, reduce pain, improve pain symptoms, and decrease the use of medication.
Spinal manipulation is one of the most common chiropractic techniques. This technique employs the use of a controlled and sudden force to a joint when the patient’s body is positioned in a certain manner.
Spinal manipulation is nothing new. Greek writings from 1500 BC mention spinal manipulation and the maneuvering of the lower extremities to ease low back pain. Hippocrates, the Greek physician, who lived from 460 to 357 B.C., also published texts detailing the importance of chiropractic care. In one of his writings he declares, “Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases.”
In the United States, the practice of spinal manipulation began gaining momentum in the late 19th century. In 1895, Daniel David Palmer founded the chiropractic profession in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer was well read in medical journals of his time and had great knowledge of the developments that were occurring throughout the world regarding anatomy and physiology. In 1897, Palmer went on to begin the Palmer School of Chiropractic.
Today, the research that has driven the profession forward has outlined the importance of an ideal spinal model, also known as the Harrison Spinal Model. Developed by Drs. Donald and Deed Harrison, this model has been demonstrated through peer-reviewed literature to be the normal alignment that a healthy spine should maintain. It is the geometric path of the posterior longitudinal ligament or the backs of the vertebra from the first neck vertebra to the bottom of the lower back or top of the sacrum.
